Jousted by a Bull of a Beast

This poem experiment weaves together themes of dancing and the haunting shame of being labeled a bigot. It juxtaposes the strict discipline of structured movement against the wild chaos of unrestrained expression. Through repetitive self-accusations, the work evokes profound feelings of alienation, ultimately leaving readers with a sharp, bitter taste of introspection and discomfort.

Jousted by a Bull of a Beast When the Moon Is High

a misogynist

Honored by old souls, though, I can’t do wrong
except beer and booze and beer and booze
an old tradition

Drunk off 12 beers in the basement
13 over midnight
Not romantic when the L2 exam is 8:30, 8:00 A.M. proper

a misogynist
Called by a cat
a ballet by trade
what’s worth of me?

a ballet in the basement ballistic
Domingo by Jaco Pastorius playing
supple sääret flying over a beer float
You won’t see my dance yet

I can dance ballet too
your friend won’t say so
’cause he don’t know,
jousted by a bull of a beast when moon is high

AGON by Stravinsky – you know!
