Evening Darkness

Through rich and visual language, this poem reflects on the experiences of humankind—how we are mere spectators of the universe’s eternity…

Author: Eimantas Petraitis

As the evening darkness settles over the lands,
It reveals golden spirals, animals, Orion’s arrows.
We brighten our paths with candles and amber lights
To reveal and understand the forest’s shadows.
Long ago the sun has been welcomed by horizons,
We were witness to its shows of red and orange,
Breath-taking rays, reflections, light, thy sons.
To us gradients, glowing clouds were never foreign.
As the nightfall melts all colours into unity,
Dim-lit routes lead us forward into the future.
Yellow horizons show journeys, voyages as destiny,
Diamond numbers in a winter sky announce adventure.
An emotional wind is blowing from left and right,
One million words cannot describe this joyful light!
